i would like to increase the size of my icons. not the desktop or start menu, but all my icons in general, like folder icons, file types icons and so and so forth... it's like i downloaded these 'high res' icons with iconpacakger, but i can't enjoy them because they're still stuck in that 32X32 mode. m not sure how to do increase them. can anyone help?
btw, i already tried going on display, apperance and effects: that only worked for the desktop and the start menu, but not all the other ones...
here is how you do it. well at least my way of doing it.
run->regedit->current users ->control panel ->window metrics. look for this key Shell Icon Size. it will be set at the default 32x32. right click and select MODIFY. a window will appear. select your Icon size. I set up mine at 96x96, cause 128x128 it's too big for my taste. have fun.
i couldnt find the window metrics under control panel... ima try option B

option B didnt work... back to A LOL!! i did find window metrics and changed it to 48 but i couldnt notice the difference... boosted it up to 72... i still didnt notice a difference. m assuming i have to reboot or log out or something... m i right?

nothing changes... it only changes the start menu and the desktop, whenever i change the icon size, whether in the regedit or in the display-apperance-properties or the accessibility wizard. the folder icons, the win explorer icons stay the same old 32X32... oh well, guess i'll have to get used to it. thanx guys!
I would also like to do what you want to do oy99 but i had 0 luck doing it although this worked for me.... tuneuputilities 2007 there is an option there in customization that allows you to resize the icons folders and etc but ...the prob is that it resizes the start menu 
.... i fixed it by changing my start menu to classic start menu ... and it also resized my desktop icons i fixed that by hiding my desktop icons .... wich i can afford to hide them cause i use object dock tabs and all the progs i use more frequently are there

funny u know, cuz m trying to make windows do what I want it to do... the best computer will definitely be the computer that allows me to change anything whenever i wish to hahahaha

but i wonder, are you running vista? (i like the previews for the windows like a slideshow thing...)

m told that i shouldnt be downloading all these win tweaks because it messes with the computer, slows it down and i have a higher chance of getting diseases (virisues and spyware)... i hope i can dodge bullets well then in this case, cuz i really wanna change win hehehe 
I have two ways of doing this. The first way, can only get you upto 72x72 icon size. Right-click on your desktop, go to properties. Then, go to the appearance tab. Over there, click on the "Advanced" buttonon the drop down menu that says "Item:" find Icon, then change the size to 72. That's the highest that it'll allow it. Another way is to use the settings manager (It's called 'Current User Settings') in Flyakite OS X, choose an icon size, the you will have to restart.
However, be warned, not many icons can hit 72x72, the only iconpacks that I've seen inlcluding that size are the Micro iconpackager theme by Astyanax (on his dA), and the Minium icons. Most icon creators have the ico's set at 32x32, 48x48, and 128x128. If I were you, I'd stick with 48x48. It's a great size and it still shows some detail.
you should be ok ... i know what you mean but u gotta dld your stuff from trustworthy sites and im not a fan of slow pcs also so that wont slow down your pc there is options on there that u can change ... so wont use alot of cpu ...
thanx evilmnky... i already tried the display thing (yah, i was going for 48 originally hehe)... and it only did the start menu and desktop. i wanted the other win explorer icons to increase in size too, not just the start menu and desktop...
but then, when i think about it, a lot of the win icons are still in my system even when m using iconpackager with other themes, like the control panel icons are still the same for the most part.... but i dunno, rite now, m browsing through and see what i can get
