Aqua-Soft ForumsHello every one, I am wondering if someone could tell me how to make my Windows XP computer look like Mac OS 8, I have done it before, but I am not very good at it, does some one know programs and applications that make you Windows computer look like a Mac OS 8? can some one please guide me?
Mac OS 8 look and feel?
well first off, welcome to the site. 
second, the Classic Mac is quite the different choice, congrats to you sir.
Mac OS 8...well first you will need to purchase a program called WindowBlinds from Stardock. This will give you most of the UI you need to make your emulation complete.
Second, you will need to find a shell theme to replace your default OS (probably Windows?) one. Try to google it, and if not theres probably not a lot out there.
If this fails, you can also purchase a copy of IconPackager, also from stardock, which with its downloadable Icon packs, will replace all system icons to the OS 8 ones (if you download said pack).
Another product from Stardock, called ObjectBar, which, v1.65 works well with current emulations, will allow you to 99% effectively emulate the OS 8 MenuBar. But before you can do this, you also need to download the theme for ObjectBar, probably on some customization sites, such as wincustomize and the such.
As for the mouse pointer, im stuck. its been a loooong time since i used OS 8, and i am not sure if the pointers remained the same all the way to OS X. If so, there is a program called Flyakite OS X, which has a lot of installments, but one that you actually need in your case is the pointers, so you only need install that.
Basically thats what you need for a basic look/feel of OS 8. There are many other things you will need to prefect this emulation, but this covers a lot of it.
thanks for answering, I have actually tried every single thing you said before, and it did make good emulation, but theres some stuff that are not covered, like the logon screen, sound schemes and the cursors... the problem is that there`s not alot of resources out there... but I am still searching, any other ideas?
well yes, but im sorry to say....that not many OS8 resources arent available mainly because...no one wants OS8! i dont mean taht in a bad way...
for the logon screen we come back to stardock with a program called LogonStudio. This allows you to change your logon screen....if you can find a OS8 skin...
Cursors i cant help you with....sorry 
sound schemes.....hmm.
if you have an OS8 machine you can convert the system sounds to WAV format, and then apply them that way, matter in fact you can do that with cursors, although i doubt that OS8 used .cur format cursors...
because...no one wants OS8!

I had made myself Mac OS8 skin for windowblinds, back in my Windows2000 days... unfortunately, I never got time to update it for XP. It still works on XP, except few parts (like new startmenu)

There was another OS8 Windowblinds theme, which was XP compatible. I don't have the link now, but I find it I'll update you. I didn't like it that much personally as it was too "Smooth" for my taste as apposed to sharp and pixelated look of original OS8.
As for login screen, like I said I never got a chance to work on XP version so I never made any login screen. I had OS8 bootskin though, I'll see if I can find it. But it was on my old drive which died so the chances are slim.
I think I can make the logon screen, I dont have a Mac OS 8 machine, but I think I can work my way around this, do you any website that has the Mac OS 8.0 default wallpapers?

By the way... great to see a Copland fan around. Now I wish I had made that OS8 visual style.
Cool wallapapers, I looked at them, they look funny a little bit, I found a Teddy bear in the zip file and rubberbands, looks very nice, do you any sound scheme files?

Very nice, that website is perfect! I found what I need, I cant use Windows Blinds because the trial period is over, but is says you can apply the skins with StyleXP, I am going to try it thanks alot for the website link Virstulte!

I have one more doubt, I dont remember, but does Mac OS 8 feature a screen saver?
There seems to be another flaw with the transformation, I have no idea on how to change the looks of the Windows Messages, like when an error comes up, it shows the same old default error sign with the message, is there any way I can change this?
