Critique My Mockup

Hey guys I am launching a new personal Mac GUI and web design site on April 9th this year.I would like to get your opinions on the design. The link here is now the actual website. I have finished designing and coding the entire the site, with the gracious assistance of Jake Moore. Plans are in motion for the complete site launch on April 9th featuring a few surprises for you. :D

Anyways here it is:

Looks pretty good too me.

#445217

not bad

i like its simplicity

#445232

Well, in opera I get this, sadly:

Thought you should know, bro :)

#445259

ewww lol I'll try and fix

[update:

Here guys I actually came up with a new version, see the first post.

#445479

I'm a fan of the design, but it liked the first color scheme a little better. The script font is kind of hard to read too. Good job though!

#445503

Update! Completely Rebuilt. See first post ;)

#446792

i remember the old design breaking in safari as well. :>

the new mockup looks pretty good, while it isn't groundbreaking, it's simple and usable.

my only cringe is the text reflection. so overused, so unnecessary (web 2.0 is not about beta, reflections, or being acquired by yahoogle)

#446846

nice... although the header might be a little too big, I can't decide.

Overall a huge improvement from the first design

Ellada, I totally agree. However, I feel that I can get away with a little reflection with this design, because of how glossy the header is. :P

#446917

It will be bigger in the final, right? Cus that's entirely too small.

If you want, I could code it in strict xHTML/CSS for you.

#446985

Haha, actually no, because I'm personally using a 13" Macbook, so it substantially fills up the page as is.

#447028

the size is fine, just please center it lol.

#447037

Haha, I'm not too worried about the alignment just yet, I'm just trying to get the mockup ready. Don't worry though guys, it'll be centered in the final version :P

#447038

Website finished. All coded with the help of Jake Moore. See first post for details.

I like it! The wood background is nice and very original, I live the feature to change the background too.

The text is still a little too small for those of us with fine screen resolution though :)

Agreed. I wouldn't complain because I can change the text size, but the design breaks

Show me a screenshot mate I don't have a clue about what you're talking about.

Here's a screenshot...

I saw this in your screenshot and really liked this. I love how you can change the background, the glossy header is cool, so are the tabs, and the glass border is really nice and goes well with any background. Nice work.

The text size is fine for me, but that's just because I'm also on a Macbook.

He's saying that the design gets messed up when he increases his browser's font size. I don't think there's anyway to fix that on a fixed width.

Glad you guys like the coding I've done on it :D

#447881

i see you used our favorite wall in it, huh? verrry nice. hope you get far with this.

#447940

Thanks for all of the help and compliments guys :D

#448018

I like it, a lot! It looks really glossy, which is really cool.

One thing: it won't work in IE6- properly. I know it doesn't seem like much, and I don't know what your target audience is, but PNG images don't render well in IE6-.

#448050

If you can find a way to trick the IE6 Engine into displaying PNGs properly then tell me and I would be glad to fix it.
