Load up an existing Y'z theme, load up photoshop, load up a text editor, and experiment. That's how I learned.

@AppleThink, they are toolbar icons for Mac you they are supposed to replace the sidebar icons/ toolbar icons in Finder, using CandyBar. I think also, that if you can get them to either png or ico then you can use them in FindeXer, a Finder wannabe app out there.
