Aqua-Soft Forumswell, i am going to change my "do not disconnect" graphic on my iPod, 5G 30GB, and i wanted to know, if anything goes wrong (god forbid) will my iPod still be safe? i kinda need a quick response...thx in advance 
Are iPod changes restoreable?
well, you can always restore it then re-sync with itunes.

here, i'll just explain it.
go to www.ipodwizard.net, download and install the iPod Wizard 1.2. After installation, connect your iPod, yadda yadda yadda, and then launch the iPod Wizard. In the top left corner, choose Edit Mode: iPod, and then select "load firmware". After the Wizard reads your iPod, choose the "Pictures" tab, and then on the index drop down menu, choose number 368 (this is your "Do not Disconnect" image). You then choose to "Save Bitmap". After you do this, do what you want to the image. After, select "Load Bitmap", and load the one you made. After you do all this, go back to the top left corner and choose "Updater" in edit mode. Select "Write" and you're all done!
I only tested this on 2 iPods, 5G 30 & 80GB, so...yea. You can also load themes, but i don't know how to do that yet!

P.S. - This does CERTAINLY VOID your warranty, so if you screw up, well...yea.

Okay, i found out how to install themes. Open up your iPod in iPW, and click on images tab, hit "load all", and choose the folder where the theme is. then write it, and everything.
Edit: oh yea, i wanted to ask, i know shmengie said re sync, but i am directly editing the firmware, so if something goes wrong, my warranty is voided, will i be able to restore it safely?
Edit 2: having a bit of a problem with font changing, can anyone help?
obviously, you're one step ahead of me on this, so i should be asking you questions. reverting to a default ipod was easy with rockbox. i haven't made any changes with this yet, so i can't advise you on restoring. but, it looks like there's a fairly well established community, so help is close if you (we?) need it.
edit: okay, i also just changed my 'do not disconnect' pic. works like a champ. thx, applethink! now, let's take this baby out and see what she can do...
i think i'll write a tutorial...do you think people would appreciate it or would it be in vein?

this is really great. my 80GB iPod is totally my own. i have a background pic as a replacement for the white wallpaper. i also changed the blue highlight to a red color. i changed the placement of the Album Art to an alternate state (after every song it would swap between the left side and the right side.) I changed the "iPod" title in the main menu to "MyPod". The list goes on and on. Some of the cool things that i really enjoy is the DO NOT CONNECT image is changed to the Apple Key, exactly like my avatar

i was wondering though...how can i change the volume bar and the length-of-the-song bar? i found the image in the iPod Wizard but when i changed it it still remained the same. I went back and the image was different, i was just wondering why it didnt work.
The only problem with this editor is that you need to downgrade your firmware to have it work properly.

yeah, i see that 'downgrade firmware' button, but i've changed themes, fonts and strings all without touching that. must be cuz' i'm a demi-god...
ha. well if you keep on the software updates, then you will have to downgrade. if you left ur software stock with your iPod when you baught it, then no, you wont have to downgrade..

wow.... i heard that using the background hack on a 5.5G is dangerous. shmengie, have you done this?
naw, haven't changed the bg. as a matter of fact, the only things i've changed are the disconnect pic, the font and the title (from "iPod" to "Fo' Shizzle").
lol. are you hesitant about changing the background? i wanna do it...but i'm not sure it's the smartest thing to do.
well from what ive seen changeing the background didnt affect my iPod at all...
if its dangerous please let me know so i can revert my iPod back...i dont want any problems with my almost $400 peice of heaven
it is very dangerous, plus i bought the 2 year warranty (which is now worthless :confused:) and if u did it successfully then ur fine.

here, if anyone is interested, i have a URL for people who want to add tiny icons to their menus. Just make sure you set your font to Podium Sans included with the package, and go to strings>load list and choose the .txt file included. it has some stuff you may want to fix, but it's very good.
