Why Our Windows Are So Special!?

This is just my opinion;

I think that modding Windows to look and feel like a Mac is much more interesting than actually owning a Mac

->

With OSx you cant really modify it and make it your own personal OS. I really don't think Mac owners are looking for a way to emulate the Luna look on OSx. Thus, with Windows, you (us) wanna make it your own unique OS... You find something beautiful, say Mac OSX and base yourself on it. It is not purely a Mac and will never be. This means it is some Hybrid between MS and the Apple.

-> In that way, Our windows are Unique, they are not any MS Windows XP Pro Corp. or any Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar, no! My windows is my windows only, nobody has the same OS as i do and that's why i love it so much!

Finally, Skinning and Modding windows is what makes it so cool... And that's the reason why i love Windows XP, i can modify it so it is MY Windows!!

I just had to say it out loud, thank you :D :smartass:

in not sure about the loving XP part, but i agree. it gives you the ability to make you own OS, which i find is kinda fun :D . and the main reason i dont exclusively use a mac.

ok maybe the word "love" was a bit strong, but it's kinda hard to find a perfect OS, it's only a matter of getting used to it and Windows XP gives you the possibility to get used to whatever you want. OSX can be skinned but cannot be modified as deep as MS can be. That's why i "love" my windows :bleh:

If you like tweaking your OS, then Linux may be for you. :)

Indeed, Linux looks cool from here and i thought of having 2OS on my computer such as winxp and linux simply to customize it....the thing is, What would i do with linux??? I mean, i know i could surf the net but besides that....What does it do??

As far as I know, it does great things with transparancy!

Well, out of the box, most distros can do ALL basic desktop work (internet, wordprocessing, etc) AND most good server work, Apache, SQL, FTP, DHCP, SAMBA.

In all honesty, it does everything WIndows does (and that includes WinServer 2003) and more.

Plus its all free (in moth meanings).

The disadvantage, you have to tweak and mess with stuff, and learn a whole new system. But since you said you like that kind of stuff, I recommended it.

Oh, and as long as you dont want to move any windows, the transparencies great. :lol:

There are some nice GTK shadow patches though (even though its done in software).

If you're still interested, take a look at mandrake.com, its IMO, the easiest distro to get started with.

I love having xp functionality and mac looks.

Mac is very counter intuitive, hit the apple menu and your mouse first grazes the

"about this mac" box,... not something you need all the time ( hell, your likely to only click it once in your life).

Now when I hit apple menu, I get to reap months of 30000 people's testing results usability microsoft style,... first the ie then "microsoft finder",.. it's great.. and all in apple style.

I love the smooth animation of OSX... when you add/remove items in your toolbar or when you resize the iTunes window and dynamically changes the elements in the window... or the dock and genie effect.

My XP is great in the OSX dress but just too static :(

That'S exactly what i meant, Windows makes it easy to mod, it's not the perfect OS but its a very good OS for modders, the only problem with XP is with the purists, XP will never reach OSX...

Thats also why comparing them is not an easy task since they don't work the same.

OSX: look

XP:functionallity

mix both: Hyper Hybrid = Modder's dream!!!

and @contrasutra, i will seriously check mandrake.com too see if i could have a 3rd OS on my pc....just to try it out...
