Problem installing iTunes

Yesterday I tried to open itunes and it said that some feilds were missing from itunes and that I needed to reinstall itunes. After many attempts to open itunes I decided that I better reinstall it.

I went to add/remove programs and completely removed itunes. Went to itunes website and went to the download tab. Dwon loaded it. When I try to open it I get a "itunes encountered a problem and needs to close, please tell microsoft about this problem" Every time I try to open it it says that, so I have many times uninstalled it and tried to download it with the same outcome.

I have went to the support page on the itunes website, followed the suggestions their nothing seems to be working. Tried rebooting the PC many times, etc. Don't know where to turn, but to you guy's.

i sometimes get issues like that when I'm running an iTunes remote or something like that.

are you running something that uses the itunes scripting engine? (avedesk with avetunes, etc?)

it said nothing else, and I am running neither of those, so I uninstalled it. I have been trying to read up on it. I googled "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" Most of the ideas that come up is to download the version quicktime that comes bundled with itunes seperately. So I have tried that but it gets through the installation andsay's that I already have a newer version of quicktime and theirfore it will not complete the down load. Tried going to add/remove programs and it will not let me delete quicktime. I kinda think if I can delete quick time I can then download itunes. What do you think? Crazy?

Try uninstalling iTunes and then deleting C:Documents and SettingszenarrowApplication DataAppleiTunes (or it might just be located in iTunes, not AppleiTunes). Make a backup of it somewhere just in case.

Once you've deleted, search your system for 'iTunes' (include system and hidden files) and see if anything comes up. Restart and then try installing iTunes.
