But if you notice, the grid lines of the background are not completely aligned with the lines near the tables' borders.. but that's really negligible and unnoticable..

Great lookin mockup, Goku... From the looks of the current start page, you're already alot of the way there, since the items are already in the same general layout, just less graphically enhanced.
If "Celebral" means me ( hehheh (Y) ) then I could probably take graphics and make them into that front page, working off what you already have set up, but I lack the creative talent to add to/modify that existing layout. My abilities lie solely in converting images into webpage form, not ideas to images.

hey, i'd like to share with you what godpunk has had for the portal page. he posted it in a secret place however its better if we all could see it, NOW.

Hey guys, just throwing out an idea here. I know there has been talk of a redesign of the frontpage, so I came up with the following:
As you can probably tell, I stuck with the iTunes theme. The current top bar is an excellent navigational tool IMO, conserving space while providing sufficient navigation. So rather than trashing it, I figured I'd go with it, thus adding the lower section you see. I opened the concept site (it's a jpeg for now) in Safari so that you could get an idea of what it would look like in an actual browser.
The entire site fits in the window, no scrolling (at 1024x768). The idea is to display one news article at a time, logically the most current and newest info. All other recent articles would appear in the box at the immediate left, with the option to browse all archived news in a seperate pop-up window. Below the article box is a box featuring the latest forum posts, allowing easy access to the most current discussion. Obviously, we retain the link to the forum mainpage (at top).
Please let me know what you think. As I said, this is just an idea. I had time to kill, and thought I'd use the time to brainstorm and try to help out. Have a great day!
