Loro Launcher Testers Needed

I have long been a lurker in these forums but have never posted, but today I decided to register so I could tell you all about an application I am working on. It is called Loro and is a keyboard-centric file browser for OSX tiger (and soon windows). You can read more about it here;

I am currently looking for beta testers who are running OSX Tiger (intel or ppc), if anyone could help I would be really grateful if you could PM me or reply to this thread.

When I try to search, and press enter, there's no response. When I tried again, the program crashed with the same error travelfox showed. There's nothing in the Console logs either.

I look forward to trying it out again once you fix the bugs .

Thanks nightcralwer i'll note the issue just to check, you are on osx tiger right? the search function uses spotlight and so you'll need tiger, i can't imagine why its not working otherwise :s did any of the other functions work ok for you? yahoo or browse for example

Now it crashes whenever I start it up, so I can't even test whether Yahoo searches work .

Same error as the one travelfox showed, though I did get one about some kind of UnexpectedFormat.

I'm running it from the desktop, and I used AppZapper to clear out all traces of previous versions of Loro. Yes, I'm running Tiger 10.4.8.

I think it's to do with the hotkey stuff, i'll take that out and put another build up, see if that fixes it

alex : can't changes the folder shorcuts, the browser only allows me to open a file, not a folder , and whatever I do (just remove one of the shortcuts) it will crash when saving

My suggestions:

Appearance

• Move "Loro Preferences" to the default spot in the Menubar (application name > Preferences...) or remove it's Menubar entirely.

• Replace "Type To Search" by a default search icon as used by the Finder, Mac OS X isn't Windows Vista.

• Match Loro's overal appearance with the black transparent HUD panels used by iPhoto, Aperture, Mac OS X Leopard's Quick Look etc.

• Why does the Main window do a Genie minimize animation upon launch? Seems odd.

Bugs/Other Suggestions

• Icons look jaggy and seem to lack transparency.

• Open items located under "Places" with one click, instead of double clicking, like the Finder Sidebar

• Allow users to toggle "Recently Opened Documents" on and off. You might want to change "Recently Opened Documents" to something else as well as it shows more than just documents (applications for example).

• Allow users to get rid of the Dock icon when using hot keys.

• Application doesn't respond to cmd+Q.

• Application is highly unstable and crashes after launching it for the second time: "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down."

id happily test this on windows when its available, looks real nice, and i browse quite often by typing in parts of directoy names, thats what it does right?
