Recursively Create Contact Sheets

Does anyone know of a way or an app that can do this?

Currently I use either Xnview or Gimptalk's Contact Sheet Script but, neither one allows for a recursive creation.

The main reason I'm asking is I'd like to archive most of my icons but, leave a contact sheet version in their place on my main drive.

in photoshop.....but only if they fall next to each other in terms of file name ie "icon2" "icon3"
