Issue with Startmenu fonts

hi.

this seems like a basic problem, but i've searched around a bit and can't find anyone with the same issue, so here goes...

i've recently reinstalled windows afresh and reskinned my machine to resemble os x tiger (as it was before), but i'm now having a problem with the font i use for the whole system doing strange things on the startmenu (classic menu with small icons).

basically when i click on 'start' the font looks fine and as the first menu shifts across it's normally the same, but then after a couple of seconds the font begins to change to a smaller size and as i trace the cursor up and down the extended menu, the font is then reduced to this smaller size. the original 'start' menu (on the far left) always stays the same, but subsequent menus that open across to the right have this annoyingly smaller font.

basically it seems as if two programs are fighting to control the font size, one does it at first and then the other takes over (perhaps?); however, as far as i know, i've changed all the settings to the same font size - it's all lucida gr 8pt - i've set windowblinds to override the skin settings to this and set it as the title font there, it's set as all the fonts in the properties/advanced dialog, styler is set to use this font for everything and it's set in the registry under font substitutes.

any ideas on how i can stop the size reducing on the startmenu?

cheers
