I'm looking at that with the jetBlack forum skin applied and it has no white background. You just need to open it in PS, make the butterfly a selection > contract it by 1 pixel> select inverse and press delete. That will get rid of the white pixels around the edges.

So, yeah, the smaller one is good. Except, the shadow is odd, better on the original.
