What is drwatson?

hi......in this past three days,my computer kept crashing T_T.

the problem is when i opened certain images file....it always said somethings like explorer error, need to close it......and when i checked windows task manager i found this file drwatson whatever....

my question :

1.what is this file?i found that this file is somekind of program error debugger???is this file genuine???

2.i always terminate this program...is that alright??if i dunt terminate it, my windows will stuck and crashed.....

3.pliz help me....

what image is it? try running an error fix on your hard drive.

When explorer crashes, expect a stop error.

actually it's a random images...some time it could be opened sometimes it crashed...

just a normal jpeg file....

wat do u mean by running an error fix? scan? defragment ?

ok go to my computer>local disk ( C: ) and right click it. go to properties and then click the "tools" tab. you'll see a button there.

I get random explorer crashes and I got tired of watson running in the background using up all my resources. So, a couple of days ago I cut him out of the registry. I think all the modding I have done causes this.

Anyway, I have his body lying on the patio. He's not going to be bothering me anymore.

i've done the disk error check and there is nothing wrong within......

how to cut it out from registry?? jus simpy terminate it in ctrl+alt+del? or i have to run msconfig?if so wat is the service's name?

From the microsoft website:

To disable Dr. Watson

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

2. Locate and click the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAeDebug

NOTE: Steps three and four are optional, but they necessary if you want to restore the default use of Dr. Watson.

3. Click the AeDebug key, and then click Export Registry File on the Registry menu.

4. Enter a name and location for the saved registry file, and then click Save.

5. Delete the AeDebug key.
