Aqua-Soft ForumsI tried to install old scanner software onto my comp and it messed it up( scanner is from 1998).This happened to my dads comp and also my gf's comp so its def the cd. Anyways, So I uninstalled the software by starting windows in safe mode, To cut to the chase, in the end I must have deleted something else because I get this message when windows starts to load:
"explorer.exe. unable to locate component
This app. has failed to start because Normalize.dll was not found."
Here is what I have tried so far with no luck:
Started the comp in safe mode then selecting 'start comp.using last known successful configuration'
Used the original windows xp disk to try and repair windows.

...This didn't work, 39 minutes into fixing windows,the comp restarts and the cycle continues. I would go through the whole repair process but it would stop abruptly and reboot.
I can't sign onto my name, I am using my gf's comp.
I guess the real problem for me now is to load windows xp again.
I have booted the comp from the windows xp cd and have gone to the repair option. The thing is I have no idea what the admin password is. I don't remember making one because I got xp a while ago.
