i just recently installed the snowe shell32.dll, and my thumbmail preview in a folder, the background icon / bmp (i dunno which one) has changed.. look
the default one (circled in black) is pretty ugly, but the one in red, looks quite crap.. does anyone know which resource, and if there is a better one out there? thanks alot 
This icon is in 96x96 pixel format and it's icon resource number 4 in shell32.dll.
You must replace it manually with one of your choice.

As you can see, my shell32.dll icon 4 has clearly been replaced, but my thumbnail preview folder is still the ugly yellow XP one. What gives?
Try clearing your Icon cache.
actually just go over the old ugly one, right click it and select refresh thumbnail that should take care of it or alternatively view as icons then delete the file thumbs.db and view them as thumbnails again, that should fix them all at once.
