[EDIT]

Very, very sorry. The program I listed previously wasn't the program I used before. Here is the program I use. It's called Change Folder Icons, and it CAN change drive icons. Your computer must be restarted for the change to appear though. Sorry about that guys. It doesn't list being compatible with XP but I gaurantee it is because I use it.

Really useful things flyakite!!!

I love the abilit¡es of Change Icons, since I want to use different ones for any single drive :)

#3886

Can it change your CDROM/DVD icons too?!

It couldn't be done in pre SP1 WIN XP, and with SP1, changing them with axialis iconworkshop made them inaccessible! (it somehow created alias My Computer entries for the devices in registry that placed themselves "over" the real ones)

Hummmm... I don't think so :( It changes everything, but not the drive icons! Really sad...

Lol, yes, it can change them Iceman. If anyone wants, I have a screenshot to prove it. It won't be noticable until you restart your computer though, that part is never mentioned.

Hi,

IconPackager from StarDock has the ability to change just about *any* system icon, including drive/cdr/dvd icons.

Peace,

Yes, it does, but one, it's not free. And two, it's a pain when you just want to change a few icons, you have to create a package, load it, and so on. With Change Icon Folders, you just right click the icon you want to change, select change icon, find your icon and your done. Both will work, but I think Change Icon Folders is easier. I'll upload the free version I have tomorrow around 3 pm central US time.

... And three, it can't change the CD-R, Audio CD, DVD, CD-RW etc. specific icons... only the generic one (which shows when there's no media in the drive)

Or am i making a mistake and they've added that feature in the latest version?

Lol, alright alright, I edited the post. The program I posted ORIGINALLY could not change drive icons. This program can, because it is the program I use.

It's called Change Folder Icons, and it CAN change drive icons. Your computer must be restarted for the change to appear though. Sorry about that guys. There is a new version on the site that has a 30 day time limit or 30 executions. Your icons stay changed after the time period but you can't change any more or export icons. I have an older version at home that works on XP still that was free at the time. I'll upload it tomorrow.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Wow! It's really confuse! The first program ("Change Icons") YES change the disk icons! Yes, all what you need to do is restart your PC. I've changed ALL my drive icons, choosing the right ones for my Zip drive, another one for my CD Burner (different from my CD reader) and everything's perfect! You won't need the second program ("Change Folder Icons"), so please flyakite, could you post the first link for the guys?

See this screenshot:

LOL, I hope everything's clear :D

[Edit] Thanks a lot flyakite for a great tip!
