Within the past 3-4 months, I've been getting many "Blue Screens Of Death." It's getting annoying. I've followed the instructions, and it still happens! Ican't find where to disable "chacing" and "shadowing"
However, I did learn that my Pentium 4 with HT Tech has "2.06C GHz" of Processor Speed.

There are many, many, many reasons why you would be getting BSoD's. There is no sure way to stop this except getting a mac
Many bluescreen errors are either software, driver or memory related.
If it's a software fault, simply remove the offending program.
Test your computer in safe-mode first and see if it still crashes.
Check your computer for any malicious software too - spyware is often poorly written.
Check startup programs and eliminate anything that you are sure is unnecessary.
If it's a driver issue the screen should say what file is responsible (down the bottom).
Work out what device the file belongs to, then find an updated driver
If it's a consistent memory issue, you may need to test your RAM.
If you have more than 1 stick of RAM in your PC, try removing one and test the PC.
And always be careful when handling computer parts.
If you cannot single-out the problem, a reformat may be your best solution.
Start from scratch and make a note of any system changes that cause the error to occur again.

You can find these options in the BIOS.
also, try turning off ht when in the bios, and see if any errors occur after.
my old graphics card used to overheat the chip and caused it to blue screen regularly. The safe mode would avoid this error however, since i couldn't use too many processor intensive programs in it.
i think they aren't called blue screens of death anymore, they've been renamed to stop-error screens, and error reporting should pick up on the error after rebooting. Otherwise make a note of the error code at the bottom, and search the microsoft site for a similar code - chances are the instructions they give won't make sense, but it's worth a try

Smuggler - I meant I can't find it in the BIOS. It's not under the Advanced section. Where the heck is it?
gtn - How do I test my RAM? And yes, I may want to at least reinstall windows...
Slewed - I'll turn off Hyper-Threading. 2. Stop error is the technical name; Blue Screen of Death is just an a.k.a.
I do have a (really bad) laptop (that works well when the HDD isn't being used at all) in which I am typing on, and I may want to try backing it up to this computer.
Also another prob: I CANT GET INTO SAFE MODE!!! A blue screen just pops up fast!
And booting from my NAV disc doesn't do any good...and where is my XP disc?

My old Dell family computer is pretty much dead...and I never have seen a blue screen. Not even on a computer that was in the box for almost a year...no blue screens.
Some PCs are normal (at least 1 blue screen)...others are simply amazing (0 blue screens).

I got my first blue screen yesterday 
, and tried looking for the messed up driver with no luck. After the third time booting up from a crash, when I logged in my antivirus program (Avast!) said it had to restart the operating system, but didn't bother to explain why. I clicked yes, and haven't had a blue screen for over 24 hours now.
I still have no idea how this was accomplished... It found no viruses the day before, and the site says nothing about the program being able to fix device drivers... Even more strangely, I didn't install anything new. (But it did suffer an accidental kick to the side before blue screens started popping up).
The blue screen I hate the most is the one that comes up fast during boot. It comes up when I change the boot screen and that screen has an animation.

heck even my lg phone crashed the other day, and i've had the ipod crash with the 1.2 firmware...

Yea...everytime i get a BSoD and i send an error report to see what the cause is, i always get a device driver, which i know can't always be the problem, because i don't always get the same error. Windows Windows Windows...you've come along way, and you beat Mac in the beginning, but now it's coming back to haunt you. Just wait until Leopard comes out. TOTAL pwnage, like it's not even funny.

My mom told me to open the side of my computer opposite to the motherboard and you may see a
big box hooked to the corner.... i put a little clip fan in front of it and i never got a blue screen again.
The cause could be keeping your machine on over night and day for months.
