iChat Video Chatting Not Working.

I'm hardly prone to asking customer service-esque questions on osx emulation sites, but I seem to be having a hard time deciphering why my iChat hasn't been video chatting.

A description of the problem would most reasonably begin with a successful invitation sent for a video chat with any given person (on ichat or otherwise). The influx of complication begins, however, upon the acceptance of the chat on either mine or another persons computer. It simply says that the recipient failed to respond.

My only inclination is to assume that a certain application or system-accessing frivality is disturbing ichat. But ultimately, I have no idea, bringing me here.

I appreciate anyone's help, especially anyone who has suffered the same consequences of overly-gregarious software installation.

Did it ever work? Does it happen when you have a certain application open (generic customer service question, sorry :P)?

Yeah, it used to. I've tried on different internet connections, with shapeshifter on and off, and with no other applications open. I also can't send pictures over ichat. It seems to me like it may be something to do with the built in firewall. I clearly don't know.

I'm not sure if you have a laptop or not (you may have an iMac), but what about a direct Ethernet connection? If it is a laptop, perhaps even try it at a friends house...and even if it's an iMac, if you don't mind lugging that baby around :P.

I do have an iMac, and I connect directly with ethernet. I did try everything, but I think I got it figured out. At least I've had one successfuly test. I just opened up the right ports in my firewall according to Apple's instructions.

Thanks for your help though, I really appreciate it.
