Do folders have hidden extensions?

i was just curious to know, do folders have hidden extensions? my pictutes.folder for example?

nope. technically, folders don't even exist. they're just pointers. or, pointees, i guess.

i guess i was trying to say that there's not 'comtainers' that files reside in. they are 'pointer' files. not surprisingly, andreas has stated correctly what i fumbled over..
