Vista versioning scheme

I have a question to ask all of you, My friend at work says he has Vista 002 and he told me that it's not the Beta version either, He said he has some serious contacts in the geek underworld, he also said that he can automatically downloads drivers for his hardware and updates to fix the bugs on Vista, this is what he said in his e-mail that he sent me and I quote " This is no beta, i just updated it and il c**k the registartion tomorow w the code my guy sent me.

So you guys is Vista 002 is the Final version of Vista or it just a beta version of Vista. do you think I should wait until January 30, 2007 and get my Microsoft Vista Ultimate.

The final version of Vista was released to corporations back in November.

It's also been available to MSDN subscribers as well. I'm one of them.

Microsoft Update and the driver download areas for Vista are open to the public right now. Doesn't require a secret decoder ring.

I'm running on Vista Ulitmate from my MSDN subscription right now. It is the exact same version that the public will get on Jan 30th.

I'm running Vista Enterprise at work. Just like Ultimate, minus the Media Center stuff.

Vista Enterprise is only available to companies via a Volume License agreement.

You will not be able to buy it anywhere and it comes on it's own media.

When you buy Vist from a store, all the public versions are on the CD, regardless of what version you purchased... the key determines what "version" or components will be available.

You can activate, or de-activate versions by simply changing the key.

He may have received a copy from someone with either a corporate account (requires a VLK=Volume License Key), or an MSDN copy. EIther way, it sounds like he has an illegel copy.

Doesn't require "serious contacts in the geek underworld" to get it either. :slant:

Just requires a low-life crook to steal it.
