Questions on naming, taskbar, and icons

hello guys --

i know this is a strict forum when it comes to using search before asking questions -- so, i come to you with questions i could not find answers to......if they are out there, and by chance easy to find.....punish me as you see fit......

1) i change the names of my icons in the dock, under the "dock item properties" but the name does not change --- i changed the name of the original shortcut and then tried again, and it still does not change

2) hiding the taskbar -- once you check the box to hide the taskbar, i see that it goes

away completely, which is what i want, but once a program opens that affects the taskbar (such as itunes/p2p programs/azureus/etc...) the taskbar comes back to the windows version of "hidden" which isn't really fully hidden and continues to pop up if the mouse gets too close....so, i uncheck, and recheck the box, and it goes away again completely, but of course keeps coming back......any fix?

3) the recycle bin icon --- i see 2 ways to change it (1)"property of docklet" (2) "dock item properties" --- in the first option, you cannot even browse to change the icon, in the second, i can change it, but the change never sticks.....how do you permanently get the icon to change?

I can't answer all your question, but what I've found in the past is if you shut down the dock.

Open the itemlist.conf file and manually change the shortcut names and the path of the icon.

Save and close, then restart the dock it should keep those settings.

As for the taskbar problem, sorry can't help. I've moved my taskbar to the top of the screen.

3) recycle bin problem ----- solved.....

just added the icon pics i wanted to the "icon" folder of rklauncher.......and they are sticking now......i originally had them in another folder.....

anyone got a fix to 2) ?

I had the problem with the taskbar at one point too. Make sure that the taskbar is visible and locked before opening up RKLauncher. Don't have it automatically hide.

It might also be because you're using an old version.... ? Make sure you have the latest build.

ok - so that worked as far as making sure the taskbar is visible and locked before setting the option......

NOW.....

lets say you need the windows toolbar for some odd reason --- what is the best way to temporarily get it back?

1) unclick the hide option

2) ????????

etc.....

another issue........

when windows minimize into the dock --- you can right click on them to restore/close/etc....

but when i try to close a program/window directly from the dock, it does not work

properly? and the icon just stays there unless you click it again, and sometimes the program

just opens up, or sometimes the icon dissappears and it has closed....

anyone else deal with this stuff?
