ok, just started using ave desk and im hooked. But i'm always downloading stuff to the desktop, or unzipping stuff to it. These new files are created on the desktop, starting from the top left corner, which is where my desklets are. The conflict being that the files are created right under the desklets. What can i do to alleviate this annoyance, if anything, of having to move the desklet so get to the file underneath?

Nothing, save for moving your desklets 
. I actually liked the effect of having a few desklets going down the right side, and the normal file icons on the left side.
But yeah, I encountered this same "problem" and there's not much to do about it.

Well, this requires some knowledge of how to trick the computer, but what you could do is get a dummy program (like Notepad) copy and paste the program (duplicate it, don't replace it) into some place and give it a dummy name. With an icon creator, make a blank icon (create new and save without adding anything). With an icon replacer (like ResHacker or whatever you kids use these days, holy crap I feel old now) replace the notepad icon with the blank one. Go to your desktop and create a shortcut to this exe. The icons will be blank. You may need to turn off the shortcut symbols (I forget where they are but search around in the different Preferences and Options menu, they may be in the Display Properties) so you won't see them. Rename the shortcuts to the most non-intrusive name that Windows will let you. Repeat a few times and place them underneath your desklets. Now new icons cannot occupy the space which these icons are in.
haha, yes i thought that it would require some tricking as u suggested, i'll see to it that the "issue" doesnt really become an issue, thank you
