Every update is a little Christmas.

I wish that on top of the list for Objecdock we have:

1. The ability for the dock to save the settings on WindowsOS shutdown without having to turn the dock off first.

2. Pop-up folders

3. Drag-n-drop files to apps on dock

4. Thicker hands on the clock a very minor change would fix this

#3799

auto hide and pop up folders are great ideas but I also think there should be an option of a digital clock, have them fix the weird overlap problem I am having, and have the ability to close down a program from within the dock.

I'm just curious as how we are 3rd in line, that I know of, to receive this information. For a website dedicated to nothing else but emulating the mac, and since Jeff himself posts here, why didn't we know about it sooner? It's no big deal, it just seems a little odd.

I have thought of the same thing many times!

You (or someone here) leak a beta, and you are suprised that he's gone quiet all of a sudden?

Pff.

I`ve always wanted to have the separator line transparent and the background

non-transparent like in the default dock in 10.2 but I think that it will not be included in the next version of OD .

Too bad

Five Days ago:

"This one (it is called .56) has a working auto-hide feature (again) that can be adjusted for speed or for smoothness (or for a median). When the auto-hide is enabled it does not get reactivated until your cursor is at the very edge of the screen, which prevents scrollbar related aggravations (this was not the case in the earlier build). It also includes the ability to turn off the "window screenshot" capture for minimized windows and programs. I enjoy the auto-hide feature the most, but I think many people will enjoy the new ability to select backgrounds and foregrounds through the dock configuration box. This, of course, makes it much easier to switch between multiple backgrounds, as the images do not have to be remained to get put into use. The configuration box also allows for the transparency of any background to be adjusted from no transparency, to complete transparency. In this version, the transparency of the separator image and foreground image is tied to that of the background itself, so adjusting the background forcibly adjusts the other two as well; this is a bit annoying, and I hope a change is made in the next release.

Foreground/background combinations can also be selected in the configuration box, but they must be selected from predefined pairs (no mixing and matching), which is also bit annoying."

Aw ****, don't even bother clicking or scrolling. Here is the rest of the future:

"I spoke to Bargmann about the longer term goals for dock features, and he mentioned that he would like to combine it with his ObjectDock technology to create some realistic menus for the dock. This would make skinnable menus "instantly possible" which might reduce clutter by using only one icon to represent each program, and menus to detail each of the instances of it running (like the real dock, I guess). The downside to this is that users would have to pay for ObjectBar to get access to them. The ObjectDesktop suite is still pretty pricey at $49.95 up front and $34.95 for renewals, but ObjectBar can be purchased by itself for $19.95.

When I protested to Bargmann that I don't really want to have to use ObjectBar to get the new features because I prefer my classic Windows 2000 taskbar, he told me he could design an "empty" theme for it, that changes nothing except for the ObjectDock menus. I liked this; I suppose paying $19.95 for ObjectDock (instead of ObjectBar which I still resent because of MacVision nostalgia) is acceptable. "

Pff.

Not a single person here leaked that beta. I was one of the first people to see info on the new 0.52 dock when it was posted, and that thread was deleted about 5 minutes after. I however had time to access the link and obtain the dock. The dock came off of stardock's own server. It was something like "www.stardock.com/files" or whatever. So it seems to me a bit impossible for someone here to leak the file unless we have access to Stardock's file server, which, we don't. Then, when the info was reposted, it was still considered leaked, and the new link was the actual on www.objectdock.com's own page.

It's not like we're warez here and we go around leeching some $2000 3D design app and then posting it all over IRC the day after it's realeased. We all have great respect for Jeff and love his dock, that is why excitement here hits an all time high when news about the next version or a link to the next version is posted.

And technically the link was available to everyone. You can use programs to query a website directory to display all of the links available in that directory. It was there the whole time and someone found it. If you don't want software that's not finished to be released, don't go uploading it to a server.

Jeff also didn't seem to really care about it. In my eyes, I don't think it was a big deal.

#3866

Does anybody know the date of 0.52 release of objectdock?

#3897

I would suggest that the zooming effect be made more realistic. The current zooming effect is good, but it doesn't compare with what the real thing is. Accuracy people, accuracy. Plus the actual. real zooming effect does look the best anways. But what do you expect, they made the thing!

#3915

I was just about to say the same thing Jmitch :)

If jeff needs reference, look at Yz dock. ;)

And, .55 isnt as smooth as earlier versions, also.

#4060

actualy... .55 runs as smooth as previous versions.. at least in my pc....

#4096

 And I also want to have an option "Always on top" becouse big dock is great, but sometimes I must have some more place on the screen (for ex. in the Word etc.)

totally agree. Also, the icons dont really bounce, they just move up and down. The actual animation is sweeeeet.

#4107

I'd like an icon animation that would flicker and have like a line or two go down it like a holograph thing that they show in some movies like in episode II and minority report I think, but I figure the bouncing effect is much easier to make.

#4135

and id like a dock that mows the lawn, studies for my finals, and microwaves my food ...

#4136

I would really like that 'study for my final thing' to be implemented. Then, you would have the perfect dock

#4138

I've got to write this essay on subordinating clauses in Woolf's "To the Lighthouse." I hope that the next release gives me a hand with that.

#4139

I am designing the ultimate desktop and I want it yesterday. I can mow the lawn next weekend!

In the meantime visit www.iamtrouble.com for my new desktop theme. Thank me by emailing me something nice

#4171
