How to show removable storage or iPod connection status?

I'm new to Avedesk and trying to setup a desklet that shows the status of my removable drives and iPod like the following user:

right now I configured a 'PidlShortcut' desklet but it doesn't show connection status and when I disconnect my device the shortcut disappears from my dekstop. I have Avedesk 1.3. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

first...upgrade to Avedesk beta 2.0 Even though it's a beta, it's better than v1.3

Ok.. I installed avedesk 2.0 beta created a new 'PidlShortcut' and can't find an option to show the 'connection status' option. Have you got this working like the person in the link above?

Thanks

Isn't that expected behavior, that AveDesk doesn't show the device when it's disconnected? What exactly do you mean by "connection status?"

Nightcrawler1089,

When a desklet is created for a removable device like a USB thumb drive or an iPod it will show up on your desktop just fine but as soon as you disconnected the device the entire icon disappears and will only re-appear if you connect it back. The user above has a different setup and would like to know how to accomplish this.

Is that a genuine screenshot of an app? If the ipod is truly disconnected, the sublabel shouldn't be showing how many folders and file space used (or it should be zero)

I contacted the user who posted the screen on DeviantArt and he mentioned that he used AveDesk plus some code to get the connected/disconnected status to work but never heard back from him. I guess this is something not to common so I'll just keep searching for a solution.

If this is something that will not be easy to accomplish.. is there at least a way on AveDesk to keep the icons on the desktop even if the removable devices have been disconnected? Thanks
