Can't get to select a profile screen

I recently tried installing fly a kite and found out that it affected all the users on my computer. The other people who use this computer wouldn't have been thrilled about that so I uninstalled it.

However now that it's uninstalled I can't get to that select a profile screen for windows XP where you select your profile and log in. the computer boots up normally, the black screen appears with a bar that fills up as it loads windows XP as normal, then the screen turns blue with those two darker blue bars at the top and bottom that the select a profile screen has and the windows XP logo appears. Normally that logo is there for about a second and then all the users appear and you log in but that's not happening. the computer just sits there with that blue screen and the windows xp logo and does nothing. So basically no one can log on to or use this computer now.

So any help with fixing that problem would be greatly appreciated.

wow. after all ive heard about computers being messed up after uninstallation of flyakite really makes me think...about never being able to uninstall it again.

Well there has to be a quick little way to re-install the startup files or something.

Boot it into Safe Mode and try installing/uninstalling again. Or take a look at the FAQs on flyakite's website and see the technique for completely uninstalling it.

I can't start it up in safe mode because I can't log in.

yes you can. while your computer is at the boot screen (the windows logo with progress bar) press the power button and turn it off. Then, restart again, and windows will say it was shut down abnormally, and it will ask you what you want to do. One of the choices will be Safe Mode with Networking, pick that one, and there you go.

^^Ever heard of hitting F8 during start-up?

yes I have, but safe mode, safe mode with command promt and safe mode with networking all stop before the log in screen. you still have to log in. there are three users on my computer. so I can't get to explorer at all to do anything.

Start the computer and wait for it to load. then at your welcome screen, press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice and try to login... does it work?

wait a minute, wait a minute. You said it stops before the login screen? Buddy, either I'm misunderstanding, or your not patient enough. When you choose a safe mode option, a black screen comes up and a bunch of file location thingies fill up the screen. Then it pauses. This pause can take a while. Your computer isn't frozen, it's just booting... and there's no way to visually see it doing so.

So try that, just give it some time.
