OS X Apps won't launch

Alright guys,

I'm really sorry. This is like my third help topic. I need you to help me out once again...

I am a little new to OS X, and I am having a slight problem. It has happened a few times. My applications won't launch. This doesn't happen at startup, and it doesn't affect the applications I already have open...until I close them and want to re-open them. This applies to also trying to open any file (as they have to open in an application, of course). I've been able to fix this by either restarting or logging out and then in again, but I'd like to know what's causing this and how to fix it.

Do you use shapeshifter? That's what I thought of immediately, since the older version of shapeshifter interfered with rosetta.

No, I don't use shapeshifter, though I do have an application I do not use by the same company. I will uninstall that, just in case.

I'm having a problem on apps not launching as well. Specifically the Adobe Illustrator CS2. No matter how I click it, nothing happens. It just bounces on the dock but no black arrow appears and nothing launches. I installed the Adobe Suite correctly so I don't think it's about the installer.

I'm on an Intel machine btw.

did you remove the PPC code from any of these apps? if they aren't UB and you removed the ppc code, it wont work

Uhm, what are PPC codes and UB? Sorry I'm a week old new to Mac. Please guide me to that thing.

UB stands for Universal Binary...suitable for Intel macs...as far as stripping out you ppc code for non UB apps...

I have Adobe Creative Suite and MX Studio which are both ppc and work okay. Sometimes an app will refuse to start up or crash out and I have to restart, I just put up with it.

I'm so sorry I don't understand any of those stuff. Are those supposed to be for the developers? How can I find out if my app is UB or PPC? Ive successfully installed Adobe Photoshop CS2 but like I've said, Illustrator is the one not launchin. So is it possible that Photoshop is UB and Illustrator is not? Under one software package?

I couldn't get Illustrator to work very well so I got Intaglio...you will just have to bite yer lip and get something else that will work!
