How can I hide the extensions?

How can I hide them like Windows did it?

Get info/hide extension.

But is there a universal setting for it?

I don't think you can system wide.

Go to Finder-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Uncheck "Show all file extensions.

P.S: Access Finder from the menubar.

NC: But the checkmark doesn't have any check on it already, yet I can see some extensions.
