[question] How Was "ignore" Intended To Work?

Hi moby,

I'm still lovin' ya dock. I'm curious as to how "ignore item" and "ignore class" were intended to work though, because I feel that I am seeing some inconsistencies.

Would you please offer up a detailed explanation of those functions?

Thanks in advance,

hi,

the 'ignore item' just means that mobydock ignores the application (the executable) in the taskbar-section. there is also the option to only ignore it when the item (executable) is present on the launch-section.

the 'ignore class' corrresponds to specific application windows. when an application has more than one top-level-window, you can specify to only hide this from the tasbar-section. a good example is the msn messenger. i normally hide the main-application from the taskbar-section coz i am using the msn-item to access it from the launch-section of mobydock. but i want the different open chat-windows of msn messenger to appear in the taskbar section. so, what i do is to only add the main-window-class to the ignore-list. just look at the window-classes that are shown in the properties of main- and chat-windows. they are different. so, you can specify the behavior of the dock in a more precise way.

hope this helps you,

moby
