Will there be a new generation of Mac Laptop this year?

I'm planning to buy a MacBook Pro this late-spring/summer because I'm going to college, not university though (I live in Quebec, Canada) and maybe, I may have a scholarship. This is what i'm wondering: I made some search if there will be a new generation of Mac Laptops later in this year so I would wait until it is released to buy a laptop, but I couldn't find anything. If not, should I wait until like this autumn to buy the MacBook Pro? In case they will upgrade some few parts in it like the graphic cards or else?

I'm currently a Windows-user and I found out lately that Mac was better than Windows and almost everybody agrees on that point; so I want to switch to Mac too. I was asking things about the MacBook Pro but as a student of the last year at high school, would it be more preferable just to buy the MacBook or the MacBook Pro? The stuffs in the Pro looks a lot more tempting but the price is.. can't find the right word but people says "steep" :D. I'm not sure if I'm gonna like Mac so I don't want to make the wrong choice by paying too much for something I may not like (Wondering if you understand me but I'm not saying that I will not like it but I want to take precautions!)

I really want one right now but I can't since my parents wouldn't to buy me a laptop of 3000$ so I gotta wait if I will get that scholarship to pay a part of it. They already bought 2 computers of 2000$ each a few years ago and I still don't feel good that I made them spend 4000$ for me and soon 3000$ :o

I personally advise you purchase sometime late summer. There probably will be an update sometime near the fall, but you also have to cash in on those rebates. My personal advise would be to wait until the last few days for the rebate and then purchase.

Get the MacBook anytime. Wait if possible for a MacBook Pro.

Its a tricky one to call on the Macbooks they have just had the Core2Duo chips thrown in them, and the 'Pros' have got quite a tasty GPU as it is.

Like Gnomexp said maybe a small upgrade at the end of summer or Fall, WWDC is around the first week in August thats a likely point of change.

The problem is as you probably know, trying to keep up with the latest technology is a nightmare, you can wait and wait and wait and every time you wait that little bit longer someone will say something else is coming, this is being launched etc etc.

The best thing to do is buy something that is going to suit your needs for the time your going to need it.

I agree with celticsun you can wait all you want but a few months after you buy your laptop boom apple comes out with a upgrade or something. The best thing to do is to wait until macworld expo happens and if they dont introduce a new product wait till leopard comes out and buy a new macbook pro!

I bought my Macbook August 2006, and they released Core 2 Duo a few months later. Do I regret not waiting? No.

You really can wait forever on these things. The thing to realize is that it's not like they're selling utter crap now, and they'll release a dazzling upgrade soon. It's all a matter of degree, and what suits your current needs. Sure, it's annoying not having Core 2 Duo, but it doesn't matter for me, as my processor is fast enough.
