you can try windowfx, but it's shareware
Answered the same question 3 years ago and still use the same thing today.

But get Vital-Desktop Here
Doesnt work for me
That, GameBoyz, doesn't answer his question either. That's a screensaver for a desktop, not a desktop changer.

Sorry. I've never actually tried it, I just remember seeing it and thought it might suit your needs.

Tsk tsk... Read carefully.
Nostalgic is a screen saver similar to Mac's Screensaver
Vital-Desktop allows almost any screensaver to work as your Animated Desktop Background
Before you run Vital Desktop, you have to run VDConfig.exe which is located in the programs/vitaldesktop/ folder. Click to Enable Vital Desktop and Select Nostalgic as your Vital Plugin then click on the configure button. If you see a preview working in the Vital Desktop properties, you're good to go. Hit Apply and enjoy a moving desktop display while working.
Standard desktop icons lose their transparent labels so better to hide desktop icons and use AveDesk or other widget program for your icons instead.
Warning. Not for slow computers.
Cheers
... quite simply no.
most are shareware, and the ones that do do it are Extremely slow... and use a large amount of systrem resources you could be better using.
I believe the one on Mac is able to do it fast because it uses OpenGl to render the transitions, which in turn uses the graphics card (opposed to your ram which would make things go Very slow).
Just a question...why would you want this in the first place? I have it on my mac but I think it's pointless..=
Work computers where you want variety. That's me at least.

mmm it has no real practical use but is still extremely cool, and I enjoy having it change. It doesnt use up too many system resources so it doesnt bother me.
.... I have a series of plain white Matrix Revolutions wallpapers with a character on each wal (eg Neo fades into, morpheus, Trinity and so on...)- it looks very slick especially when coupled with a matrix code screensaver...
What about that program by FoneBone released here a few years ago? Search for it, see if the links are still alive. ![]()

omg there are so many of these at download.com
just go to their homepage>Desktop Enhancements>Shell and Desktop Management>Randomizers/Changers
You should have no problems, especially since you can trust everything on Download.
I wrote a guide guys on how to do this, search 'Fading desktop wallpaper' and unlike GameBoyzGB guide up there it retains all your desktop functionality =]
