There really aren't any GUI enhancing/related applications out there that you should be investigating malware for. A lot are freeware without any kind of advertisements. If you head over to http://osx-e.com, they sure do have some GUI enhancing applications and they are a trustworthy source.
Well, as far as I can remember. Things may have changed since the last time I customized Windows. :confused:
I used to love this site--I used it even before Aqua-Soft to find themes and (ntoskrnl.exe) boot screens for my computer. However, they've started packing all the files with a lot of bloatware/malware now.

I'd say FlyakiteOSX and the Vista Transformation pack: they don't have viruses/adware on them, but they can screw up your computer. This has happened to me several times. My advice: before installing/uninstalling, create a system restore point in case anything bad happens.
