Does anyone know if there is a way to view the directories in a website without being logged in as an admin into the control panel?
For example if I had a folder with a new layout hosted on my site is there any way I could find and view the contents of that folder (unless access is forbidden) without being logged in?

If logging in takes forever because of a graphics-heavy control panel, you could use a command line shell (ssh) to log in, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're not fairly technically advanced.

Hmm, that's a bit strange. I've never had that problem with CPanel. Make sure your firewall, if there is one on your laptop, isn't blocking your hosting site.
Do you have FTP access to your account, though? You could still see your directories with an FTP Client like SmartFTP provided you have a username and password.
