installing desklets

hey, i'm a newbie to all this.. don't have much any idea what i'm doing. i have avedesk and i got some desklets from this site: http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/category/dashboard/

i read the manual and it said that they should be in .zip or .rar formats and then i could just unzip them to the desklet folder, but the ones i got are all in ".aveinst" or "AveInstallFile Class" and i can't figure out how to add them. what should i do?

well, click on Avedesk.exe, and drag the .aveinst file into the menu, and it will install. or u could just double click it

haha thanks i tried that originally but it didn't work. then i restarted and got two of them to work... but one of them (http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/dashboard/d_weathers.html) still won't do anything when i click it... is it a faulty desklet?

i guess...i dont really use avedesk except for avetunes and if i could get DAMN desktop grabber to work....shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiznit. Anyways they have something a bit more stable try the Yahoo Widget Engine. They have a desklet featured in the download exactly like this but it will definitely work. Try that

thanks, man! i actually just got rid of yahoo widget engine cuz it slows down my computer way too much

i'll stick with avedesk for a while and see how it works for me

Hi there -

make sure you've run the "register.bat" in the AveDesk folder once.

And - did you install AveScripter? Some desklets need it to function,
