Aqua-Soft ForumsOk, so I've had this problem for about a day now.
I installed flyakiteOSX 3.5 on my machine (yesterday) from a fresh format and install of windows XP, with the following items installed:
All system files
All Extras except:
-Flurry Screensaver
-Iceman's sound scheme
All skins except
-MSN Messenger
-Trillian
All software except
-iTunes MultiPlugin (gave me problems during install)
-SearchSpy v1.1
All tweaks
I've also installed a Trial Version of TopDesk by Otaku Software. I'm running AVAST Virus Scan 4.6 and ZoneAlarm as well.
I installed a few programs and browsed the internet (firefox and IE6), and had no errors/problems/etc. I had to upgrade to SP2, which I had forgotten, so I proceeded to do so.
Some time after installing all of the necessary Windows updates, I discovered that my computer (not just my browser) randomly began crashing and rebooting without warning. It didn't freeze up, I wasn't starting any memory- or processor-intensive operations. It simply would reboot out of the blue.
I wasn't sure what to make of it, so I just kept going about my business. I began to notice that the crashes only happened when I was browsing the internet, usually upon arriving at certain web pages (the first two I noticed it happens with all the time are once I log in to Hotmail and click on my inbox, and whenever I hit enter after typing in "www.good-tutorials.com")
I thought maybe there was a problem with my newly installed firefox 2.0 (which is odd because it's usually a hell of a lot more stable than IE), so I reverted to 1.0.6. Unfortunately I had the same problem. Keep in mind the reboots are still coming at random, apparently whenever I navigate to certain pages (not limited to the ones I listed above).
So I took the next logical step, which was to upgrade to IE 7 (I would have the same problem with v6 as I would with firefox 1.6 & 2.0). I did so, only to find the same results.
I've been able to boot up to safe mode w/ networking and get onto my e-mail, but after about 20 minutes I started getting Server Not Found errors on every page, even after re-booting into safe mode. I'm just glad I've been able to be on long enough to post this thread...
I have no idea why this is happening. My guess is that it has something to do with Flyakite conflicting with SP2 or any number of the recent Windows updates. I've been seeing a lot of reports of bugs just browsing the forum; I'm guessing this is another one. I don't know if anyone's come a cross this exact problem or a similar one, but at any rate I'd like to figure out what in the hoo-haa is going on. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
EDIT: I was just paroozing the forums, looing at the bug report thread. I clicked on the "3" link for the 3rd page, and it started to load fine. About 8 or 10 seconds later, as I was scrolling down the page, either a signature banner or an ad banner (two very different things, I know) popped up. The computer immediately crashed. Don't know if it's got anything to do with my problem, just thought I'd let y'all know.
