Aqua-Soft Forumsi have had my iMac for two days and it has already froze ... and yesterday Safari wouldnt respond and other aappss were just too slow i dont understand this at all and am freakin out ... bought this so that id never ever had any more prroblems with systeem frezing andd here it comes right after couple a days ... i dont now what to do at all

Hahahah, I hate to laugh but it just struck me as funny. Everyone talking about Mac not freezeing and stuff. My advice would be to try a PC. Windows has come a long way in the past yen years. With all the updates it's almost as good as Linux. LMAO

that sucks, dude. if it's new, i'd go straight to the nearest apple store/genius bar. if it's used, back up your 2 days worth of data and do a clean reinstall. actually, first, try repairing the disk permissions (finder|apps|utilities|disk utility). gl!
well .. once i saw the sspinning ball ... when safaari ffrozee yesterday aand the daz beffore it froze while loggingg intto root user ... i could move the pointer but it wouldnt loadd the user so i could do notthingg but rrestarrt ... a bitt off offtopic if i may anyone knowss about aa goodd player to displaay foreign characterss ... VLC wont support Ř etc.
No you are lying... A MAC CANT FREEZE.. THATS IMPOSSIBLE... OSX is lightyears ahead with it's inventions and freezing has past away lightyears ago.

... ok ok... just kidding, while Macs tend to be more resistant to crashing than... well... they're not as perfect as Apple's advertising would have you believe. They are still computers and thus prone to all the problems computer hardware has.

Ignore what these other Mac addict heads would have you believe... they're a mouth piece for Apple's propaganda. Just Kidding, but seriously... macs arent perfect.
tell us your computer specs, what you are running when the computer crashes, how the computer crashes (do all programs lock up? do any unexpetedly quit? just some programs lock up?...
Macs tend to be more resiliant to whole system freezes (where all programs lock up and the computer freeze and/or you are presented with the BSOD), but when it comes to individual programs, when they freeze its better to just use expose to switch to another app and wait till the program comes to... sorry but u gotta just live with the fact that the Mac is a computer, hard to believe and come to terms with I know...would u like a lollypop?
If all your programs seem slow all of a sudden then it may be due to a program you installed that runs in the background, if they have always been slow then maybe you bought a slow computer, spend more money and you get a faster computer- what a surprise.
Extra Ram and CPU speed and all that nerdy stuff isnt just to add $$$ to the price tag, its to create a better more reliable computer.

no they are actually far better- more resiliant to pron tracker/virus/trojans which makes them great for this sorta stuff, not that I'd know *cough*...
It happened to me today, too. Nothing would launch, not even System Prefs or Finder windows. This happened right after I installed InstantHijack (to grab audio from applications). Then I launched Safari and noticed it was a white box. So I thought it was a GUI problem. I booted in Safe Mode (hold down Shift while starting up) and I uninstalled ShapeShifter and it's good now. Then I noticed it was sluggish but it went away after another reboot. I think it's time for me to do a good OS X reinstall.
well ... i am running aa perfectly neww iMac 20" 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 1 gig of ram. everything seems tto be fine sinccee when the sarfari froze then once so i guess that might jusst have beeen aa coinccidence ... i will keep an eye on this lil fella off mine and will see whether something like that haappenss agaain ... and the extraa charaacterss aand sspeelling ... aam sorry ffor thaat but i guess the apple keyboard is jusst too sensitive aand i am used to type very haard on my old keeyboard ... ttryied to change the Delay until repeat in the prefs thouggh it woulddntt heelp

I know, but people who say Macs are crash-proof are equally dumb as people who claim Windows crashes all the time.
Jeeze, the poor guy wanted some advice and 90% of the response was a windows/mac bash fest... nice one.
Matt, have you done all the system updates?
There are some very important firmware and system software update that are required for the Intel macs, Use the Apple drop down menu bar and run software update (if you have an internet connection that is)
Also how much RAM have you installed? I would expect 1GB depending on the reseller, you will find untill the OS is running exclusively native to the Intel machines ( Leopard ) they will be a little sluggish and that beach ball will appear more often than not due to the system running running under a form of emulation.
It is also important to use as many "Universal" applications that you can, try and avoid the 'PowerPC' Versions they too will need to use emulation and with only 1GB if Ram this will be sluggish in some circumstances.
All those who have Intel machines (especially the core2duo) will notice a significant speed increase when they get OSX 10.5. At the moment the irony is that Windows XP/Vista runs astonishingly quick on a Mac !?! In comparison to OSX
well ... i have ddone all the updates and i do not use any Power PC apps at all and theres 1gig off RAM in the machine as ive said... fortunately everything seems just fine since that one freezing incident so i have kinda calmed down and hope that it will not happen any more or at least not in short period of time ... thnx for the advice
I guess the wrong spellings you made are cause of the hang/freeze of your iMac. Sorry I'm not much of help since I don't own a Mac (yet).

The refurbished ones from Apple should be absolutely fine... Providing they are from apple and not someone claiming to be an "Apple Certified Engineer" from e-bay.
Personally I wouldn't buy anything over $500 off e-bay anyways, unless I was sure about the seller, and I mean 100% sure about the seller.
The apple refurb gear comes with a 12 Month warranty, its not always a bargain mind you, sometimes its worth paying a little extra for that brand new machine with that little extra RAM or HDD space or upgraded GPU.
well ... i have ffound out that i am running quite a few non-native apps ... like Adium etc ... including Google Earth ... and i can recall tthat probably everytime the machine froze Google Earth was on and its not native yet ... do you thing this could cause everything to freeze? even today ... the sysstem froze while opening Google Earth ... thats when i got teh clue ... neh ... ok ... i can see now .. Adium as well as Google Earth are Universal i guess as long as it says Application(Univeersal) in the kind field in the prefs of the filez ... though i read abbout quite a few freezes caused by teh Google Earth ... might be the problem
