So I am going to try and make this simple enough
I have seen in peoples screeenshots icons on the screen which have a description and the amount of files in them and size left next to them, what do I needto download to achieve this

I think what your looking for is Avedesk. There's a whole section on it, plus how to and add on's.

Use AveDesk. If you want to password protect folders, use WinZip or WinRar (or a freeware solution) to compress the folder, and then put a password on it. There's no native Windows feature to do this for you. There are probably other solutions that don't involve compression programs, but I believe they still involve other programs.
