ok so the problem is my MP3 icon. i use iPhile, no good. Icon Tweaker, nope. Candy XP, nothing. RegEdit, ziltch. Control Panel>Folder Options>MP3, rien. IconPackager, not worth it. What in the hell is the problem? I'm running out of ideas. I've tried everything, but on reboot, the icon hops back...i dont know what else there is...
The problem isn't the apps to change icons, all of the apps you have mentioned do what they're supposed to do. The problem is u have mp3's associated with an app that uses it's own icon for mp3, and at reboot it re-associates the audio files it's assigned to. I'm guessing either Winamp or WMP, cuz I've had the same problem when using them. Switched to VLC and my problem was solved. IconPackager is my app of choice.
If you are using WMP you could always reshack the wmplayer.exe and change the icon
