i-Status not giving status.

Ive used AveScripters i-status afew times before in vista and XP before with no problem but now with a new install of vista, i-status isnt doing anything. It gives the IP but nothing in up or down. Even when theres no activity there should be zeros.

Besides extracting it to the avescripter folder, is there something else that should be done? Maybe something I just forgot. Avescripters weather is working so Im thinking its not avescripter. Any ideas as what to look at? Maybe vista networking is totally different that now it doesnt know where to look?

did you configure the desklet to actually point to your ethernet adaptor?

#433303

Well I dont see anything to actually do that. Ive done that with one of the systats ones but avescripter seems to be different. I dont remember ever having to do that with this one before and cant find anything thats really configurable.

Well I forgot about flipping it over. I had removed the background and thus had no flipper icon. But I still have the problem. When I flip it over it says "keine Auswahl" with a check mark. I guess that means no choices? And under that is my nic. I can select that but only for a split second then it goes back to keine Auswahl again. And when I flip it back over I see zeros for a split second in the up and down parts but then they are replaced by large negative numbers in kb/s. Any ideas as to why its not recognising the nic properly?

#433494

where'd you get that config from. i can't find it.

#433495

weird. i went there yesterday and did a search for 'i-status' but it didn't come up.

edit: so if you click on 'keine auswahl' it should give you a drop-down showing your nic. is it not doing that?

#433498

It does show my nic and I can select it but then it immediately reverts back to keine auswahl. Then when I flip it, the up and sown lines are no longer blank but instead have negative values in kb/s. But it static. Its not like its responding to actuall activity. Its weird. Ive used this many times before on different systems and never had a problem. Too bad too, because its a handy little thing.

hmmm...maybe you're not using the latest version of avescripter?

#433516

I just put the latest one into the Avescripter folder yesterday in an attemot to get it working but maybe I should just yank the whole thing aout and start fresh. Ill give that a try.

I doubt that deleting and installing will change anything to AveScripter. Does the other stuff work?

Is it only I-Status that seems to not work? Does weather work? Does the drop down selection in weather work?

Just trying to see if its avescripter bug or I-Status.

Yea Weather works fine. Also its drop down works too. Im thinking its a Vista thing. It worked fine back with Beta 2 though.

I'll be installing Vista on my system (MSDN) during the holiday season. (27-7jan) Those are the days I'm off and will have time to look at AveScripter in Vista.

#433885

Cool. It will be interesting to see.

#434238

Well, just tried it in Vista and its a Vista problem. I haven't looked into details to see what, but It would seems the way to get networking information has changed. No big surprise there.
