Why doesnt the menus shift back when i change application? How do i configure the menus such that they will shift to fill up the gap when i use an app with a shorter name? Thanks in advance.

yea you can fix that.
directions:
go to properties>distance>make sure your "allow maximum size" is clicked. Set it to 2. then, just set finder to use the text when applicable:) and save.
