LCD monitor problem

Hey all... today I was doing some work around the house, and I noticed that my LCD had some dust on it. As I had the vacuum cleaner in my hand, I took the hose attachment and gently sucked the dust off the front of it. However, I must have touched it wrong because after making a short sweep with the hose, I noticed a 5 in. long, very thin, verticle white line. I thought "OMG i scratched my monitor" and started panicing. i took some water on a paper towel and rubbed gently to see if i could rub it away, but in the end, it remained. I turned on my comp, and now there is a very thin line of discoloration where I scratched it. It looks as tho all the colors separated out inside that tiny line. What can I do? How can I fix this? It's a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 191T if that matters at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the powerful suction re-aragnged the phospherous.. try unpluging it and turning it back on, or if you can degause the screen... Yes, you could have scratched it

degauss? it could do the trick.

people... the kid said it was a LCD... not a CRT...

BTW Kurt... if you sweep your finger trough the "scratch" can you feel it? or maybe it's just a line of damaged pixels?

i've done pretty strage things to my LCD's and yet i've never sscratched one...

When I run my finger over it, I can't feel a "scratch". I dont think it was caused by the suction; more likely the plastic side of the attachement rubbed up against it. Thanks for the replies.

you should have some warranty from samsung or the store you bought it at....just dont tell them you put the vacuum to it, just tell them you turned it on and it looked scratched or whatever

This should be a lesson for all of us:
