Hey all. Does anyone know of a good piece of software that will let me take certain scenes from a DVD, save them, then convert them .AVI or .MPEG so I can view them from my hard drive? Tryin' to get the battle scenes from Star Trek: Nemesis ![]()
Dvd Software
look at http://www.dvd2svcd.org
Thanks for the link, but I don't want to make a copy of the DVD on a CD, i just want to take small parts of it and save those parts as movie files i can play off my hard drive.
go to http://dvd.box.sk you should find something useful there
USE DVDIBBLER!
Oh, wait, thats for Mac. ![]()

But it uses UNIX commands, and its the most awesomest piece of DVD ripper I have ever seen.
It uses mplayer, mencoder and some other UNIX stuff. I think there's an app on Windows to emulate UNIX, right? Real-time, that is. I think its WINE, right?
Anyway, try it - its awesome.
some of us arent lucky enough to have iBook's
but thanks, ill give it a look
Workin with DVDs is a little complicated at 1st. I dont think there is a way to do what you want without goin through a couple of steps 1st. A good app to rip DVDs is DVD Decrypter. Then you can use TMPEG to convert it to mpeg2 and 1. After that you can pull it into alot of newer video editing apps, cut out clips and save them as you wish. ![]()

I think WINE is the other way around, it emulates windows on UNIX. the unix emulator for windows is cygwin
