Searchbox mod for themes based on ifox and truth-k theme

I had noticed that the new firefox two themes out such as truth-k and ifox had rather rubbish looking searchboxes so i set out to mod them and here you are!

This is designed for the ifox and truth-k themes. The size issue has been fixed(fixed the hugeness of the bar) also no search plugins will ever show. The search text also stays in the box (and is grey). This is not restricted to any fonts.

Also when a search engine is available in the current window the little dropdown arrow turns blue (the same blue as the arrow in the pic).

I have also made (after popular demand) orange arrows and the option to have no arrows(next to magnifying glass)as well.

To apply mod open .jar theme with winrar and open the browser folder in it. Drag and drop all the images and the searchbar.css file only in making sure winrar is set to add and replace. Extract browser.css and add the text from the text file in the zip file and then drag it back in the browser folder. For the various colour variations i mentioned just take away the capital text at the eng of each file you want an replace the existing file. To update the theme click on add-ons and the themes tab and drag the modified .jar file into the list of themes. After a few seconds click install and restart and behold you have a better searchbar. Thanks to storm119 for the add new search plugin arrow idea.

Caution! Make a copy of the skin your modding first just incase things go wrong.

Anyone who wants to include this in their theme that they are releasing pm me first and mention me in your release

Update: Ive made a mistake in thinking that the 'Greytext' in mozilla firefox is the same colour as the greyed out text in Safari. I have now updated the zip file so all those who downloaded it before have to do is redownload and go through the process again

Thank you! Works perfectly with the Cold theme. I guess it'll work well with the fox 1.5 themes that are based on bazon's safire and tweaked to work with fox 2.0. I applied your mod to the acua theme and it works there as well.

do exactly the same thing as before....it seems i got fission working for me but im not sure what i did now to get it to work properly....will keep you posted....i made 1px with startcaps and edited the browser.css and some other thing....ill post up the mod soon enough

it requires several theme mods (pictures) and changes to the code....as truth-k is practically the same theme it should work for that as well...i couldnt get fission to pick a different loader thing through the plugin but it works through a userchrome edit...ill post the solution up in the coming weeks i guess

it works, but there is a big gap between the "go" dimple and searchbox, also, the dropdown arrow (toright of magnifying glass) is about 20 pixles into the box.

If you're referring to the serachbar mod (as opposed to fission), it seems that you have not applied zj's files properly. There's a txt file with some code which you need to paste into relevant css file of the theme you are modifying. Initially i failed to do that and got the same results as you describe. And yes, this fix seems to work with all the safire based themes.

Still interested in the fission mod. I use Truth-k and fission consists of a solid blue bar that indicates loading.

yeh i got it working so that the bar can be whatever you want and it will touch the edge of the address bar...took quite a bit of tweaking to get right but i think i can figure out what i did all those months back within the next week....ill keep you posted...hey i might even release a safari theme with the mods included if i have time!...

Sorry guys and gals for not getting back to you on the fission/fusion loading compatibility issue. I've modded a theme based on Truth-k so that the loader fills the whole address box but i haven't had the time to break down what i did to the theme into a tutorial and prepare the modded image and code files. I'll be able to release the mod once my exams are over in a month

@ericware: Sorry man i dot use tabs myself so i've never needed to mod that bit of the theme have a search around the forum a bit more...im sure you'll find it

i think it was mostly bug fixes i think, but i kno that ur mod didn't agree with the changes. I haven't used firefox since safari came out on PC

edit - i actually worked out how to do this: if you want to get fission to work with the truth-k theme replace the original 'progressmeter.css' with the one in the attached .zip file.

you do that by opening the '.jar file using winrar and dragging and dropping the file into the folder in the archive which contains the original. then reinstall the theme and fission will then use any file that you point it to in 'options'.
