Scanning Software

Anyone know of any software to operate a scanner, and doesnt use Widnwos drivers? The scanner i use wont work in Widnows XP and the program I use is crappy, and only gives me a thubnail sized preview of the preview scan

I am not sure, but I think Silverfast bypasses a large part of Windows.

It's costing a lot, though...
