Magnetic Latch?

I have seen the MacBooks, and they look like they have magnetic screen latches (what allows the screen to open/stay shut), while my Presario V2000 has a mechanical style one with the button on the front that you depress, and open the screen. Does anyone know how to convert it to the magnetic style (like the macbooks) since I dont like the mechanical style, because I figure it will eventually wear out or break. Any help?

(P.S: i didnt tag it, since i did not know whether it would be "request" or "help")

its help as a request would be something someone could physically give you like a file...whereas help can be given with just words alone

Sorry for being blunt but i can't stop laughing :P

The answer is plain and simple, not without a LOT of hassle

try a pair of scissors, cut out the old one, buy a mac book, and attatch that. Or alternatively use an old hard drive magnet, those things are powerful ;)

- im sorry that was cruel. Have you tried asking your local computer hardware store?

Nope can't be done.... I had one sadass presario once, and I had tried what you want to do. So you know for sure that unless you get VERY VERY professional help it can't be done.

And... just don't ask what happened to that presario.

not tryin to be rude, but why bother!!?? i just sold my V2000 - i had no problems with the latch, not to mention it's impossible because of the type of latch it has, just stick to what you have, why spend money just to alter the latch!!???, just stick to what you have or just save for a mac!! - T/F

This is very easy. You need a crt monitor, a small computer case, and a magnet.

Put the magnet on your monitor, and put your case next to it. Worked fine for me.
