I think people in rich countries are spoiled and treat their property like shit and then whine when it doesn't stand up to their abuse. But then again, if i lived in a country where i could just fry my iPod/destroy it just so i could get a newer model under the extended warranty, i'd probably do the same thing...
Nothing pissed me off more then when a friend asked me is there a new ipod coming out?
I point out yes (this is when the 5g just came out), and he explains he's going to run over his ipod and get a new one free. And of course I see him wondering around with a black 30g a few weeks later.
Hacked firmware will be the decider for me.
I guess I forget to tell people about my 4G iPod that failed after two years. Big HD errors--I got tired of having to open it up and fix it every few days!

You must be the only person. It to you may even Look remotely good, but consider it doesnt do what it logically looks like it should. That stupid "click wheel", far out the creative zen did a better job at trying to copy the ipods scrolling feature.
Not to mention the wireless feature. When I first read about it in "stuffed" mag, i was interested. But then I heard its only for other Zune players (which obviously not too many, unless they are idiots, will buy) AND the songs can only be played 3 times over 3 days. WHAAAAAAA! Wats the point in sharing? So that someone can like the song, go home listen to it 3 times and download it of some other peer to peer? Bit Torrent anyone?
I think they should have come out with something new, this player is a spitting image of Windows Vista. Another late product, attempting to sell already good quality features, however the zune adds one feature that is here by deemed pointless.
Good luck wasting your money on this, (by the way, even the website sais that the price may get more expensive, I mean come on microsoft is selling xbox 360's at a loss - or at lease was).

Microsoft happen to do everything late these days it seems. I think Zune looks okay if not fugly as many of the so-called iPod killer looked in past. But it's dumb to have navigation pad that looks like Click-Wheel but do only clicks not wheelie (), and cm'on this things is FAT.... I mean look at the bloody how thick it it. I for once wouldn't like to have brick in my back pocket and be social.
Like lukevink said, what's the point of putting automatic DRM on song which is DRM-less while sharing. That pisses me off. I understand that MS will throw all kinda blabbering explanations for file sharing legal crap to cover the fact they are in bed with RIAA n MPAA. But will zune understand the difference between Song from Artist/Band and Audio I recorded my nephew singing poem? It's gonna put DRM nevertheless on it.

I must be the only person who thinks the Zune looks pretty damn good, and comes with a slick looking interface. If they can come up with the software solution to back it up, I may look at buying one when I can afford to replace this (rapidly failing) iPod.

Anyone know if the Zune can "share" / "stream" to the xbox360 wirelessly? If thats possible its really something to look into compared to the iPod. Can't STAND having to hook the Nano up to get music on the 360.
yes, just found out recently that you can. also you can stream video's from your pc to your 360 also and store video into a flash drive or 360 mem card and play it on your xbox which is then connected to your hdtv (that is if your fortunate to have one), also burned CD/DVD, problem is that it has to be in WMV format.

I think its very hard to compare the real features in an early state. Me for example i would never buy an iPOD just because its what it is out of the box. One big arguement FOR the iPOD is the big equipment you can get around it (car adaptos, stations, cases and so on) I dont like iTunes for example and this problem is solved by many different plugins, i also dont like the limited functionalities in the iPOD firmware (Solved by rockbox as an alternate) So lets see what is coming out for the zune player. After that you have to compare price, design, quality, compatibility and possible extensions (software and hardware)
EDIT: I just read now some stuff about the player. And i think if its hacked... it could be worth the money.
I see nothing that impresses me about the Zune. I own several iPods and they serve their purpose well.
i am actually debating on getting a zune.. or an ipod.. i have this crap mp3 player thats the size of the old shuffle but has a screen.. it does what it needs to do so far.. but i think i should get into the now and stop draining my phone bat to listen to mp3s lol..
the only thing thats making me lean away is the software..
at least with the ipod you can use winamp or something to transfer music.. i just hope you can do the same with zune without having to use their cheap software.. im tried of using the junk software ever since i had to use sonicstage for my netmd...
but i think if im gonna spend 250 i might as well get the wii.. lol
