Did you ever think of the hardware differences between the 2 versions?
And trust me, i own a 3G and i understand your frustration but it will pass... online petitions haven't and won't ever change anything 
I have yet to see one single online petition of this type to ever work.
Apple wants you to buy a new one. They could care less about your old one.

I agree with zonda, I have an ipod with search function, and I can say it isn't that special. I would much rather have the Firewire support back, and such a petition already exists, but sadly even a tree would have listened better than Apple, because there still is no firewire support.

what type of a hardware difference could be so substantial that a search feature can't be implemented?
i wasnt aware other petitions existed :confused:
and the search function allows you to make playlists containing any artist rather then just manually adding artists and finding others where they are featured one by one..
