RK Launcher Installer

Hi guys,

I'm new here. I have been using RK Launcher for a very long time. I noticed that RK Launcher is distributed as a ZIP file. I have created a little InstallShield installer that will do our life easier I think. It creates an icon in the desktop and also in your startup folder, so RK launcher is executed every time Windows boots up. I created this shortcut because in Windows Vista the "Start with Windows" box is gray and can't be checked. I did NOT modify the software in any way at all. I'm creating a future installer to be shared with friends that includes Vista and Mac icons Packs but public distribution may not be permitted as we know. Anyways, here is the installer. I really hope this help some of you...

would it be possible (when not too much of a hassle) for u to expand the installer to prompt to confirm overriding existing *.conf & *.ini files if a previous installation is present?

hmmm... Yeah I could, but this installer is meant to simply install the program as is, it is not really updating anything... People with the manual installation don't really need to use it... Anyways, I will dedicate some time to it later... I will post the update... if any

Question... which are the files that keep the configuration in 0.4 Beta 151 ... I just made the new installer but the repair option is not restoring RK to default

OK Thanks, the installer is ready to go.... I have only one question before compiling it and sharing it. I have overwriten by default the icons Folder, Do you want me to exclude the icons folder so if a user have customized icons he may keep them???

Also the installer is currently 9MB, I have added Mac and Vista icons Packs to it, replacing the basic icons. That's why I want to know what would be better for you guys, I just don't wanna make compilations in vane.

icons folder:

. never thought about it myself since i do not mess around with it much,

. i have looked at the org package, and i m sure that adding more icons would neither hurt nor override the default ones

but as in org suggestion - can u prompt if the file has the same name? so that the user can decide to override it or not

Actually I created an option to install default icons (check box)... If the option is not selected the installer will not install the default icons I have added to this package. I did this thinking that users that will not overwrite their config files will also keep the icons they have set for their configuration... I will upload the package in about half our... busy here with other things now, sorry...

Well, I don't know hoe buggy the installer may be. it works fine here. Unfortunately I can't update it no more... I erased the full compilation once I finished the installer. If we need any changes at all I will have to create the whole installer again from scratch... It would be better if somebody sends me the lastest release of RK Launcher with all the conf, etc and I will spend time again to create a better installer. That one work good as far as I can tell thoe.

my only observation was that ur rkl conf file did not reflect the changes as stated in Raduking latest build remarks, see:

opsssss.... I built the installer with the 0.4 release.... you information is for 0.41 ... Isn't it??

Anyways... is it worth it doing a 0.41 installer right now?? or should I wait until the bugs get fixed??

u can wait if u so desire

i m quite satisfied with build275 (0.41), the majority of "reported" bugs was due to either a not.uptodate rkl conf file or simply using an old build or simply bad installation (which would hopefully be disappearing with ur installer) - other than that it is quite stable (my 2 cents)
