extracting DMG and SIT
dmg are disc image files for the mac operation system, thus you need a mac to open them, they aren't compressed files.
.sit files are opened with stuffit expander.
I once had found (using a lot of googling) a freeware .dmg to .iso converter. I no longer have it, but .iso files are easily opened with winrar.
hey,
i now have stuffit delux but when i try to extract the files, the extracted files are corrupted, and i know that they should not be. i veiwed the folder content and they were x kb in size, but when i extracted them they were 0 kb in size. any ideas
Care to share the file?.....i can go ahead and take a look for you if you would like?
Ultra ISO works unzipping some DMG files....
you can use TransMac software.

Expander must be configured first : http://www.axialis.com/docs/iw/How_to_Use_...ntosh_Icons.htm
I use StuffIt Standard v.8.5. How come I don't have Cross Platform option?!
i think that the file i was trying to extract was made for os x, could that be it? does stuffit support SIT files from OS X? is it cross platform?
ps: i think i'm using v9
Ronnie Coleman "Cross Platform option" was in version 7,5 and then at 9 again .
so what am i doing wrong?
when i view the file without expanding it recognizes the files and their size along with their format. one i extract them however, all the fills are unformated and they are all "0 kb"
HELP!
extractnow (free app) can extract .SIT files:
you just need to also download this, and put it in you extractnow directory.
Does a plugin for WinRAR that allows it to extract .SIT files exist?
i've tried extractnow, it's pretty cool but i still get the same results.
what am i doing wrong?
ps: i've attatched one of the files i'm tring to extract (i got it from the apple downloads section)
@rammass18: Can you point me exactly to that page. I searched Apple's download page but I couldn't find that set.
for some reason i could no longer find them on the apple site, but i was able to find them here: http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Gods...load-16616.html,
i get the exact same results with this download.
@rammass18 I don't know. I've extracted sit files succesfully before
but I get the same problem you said too. the files are 0kb.
are theese suppose to be icons? cause I think that sometimes
Mac icons are stored in files in files of the file name but with a ._ in
front of them in a folder called ._.MACOSX
