OD, SysStats & Shortcuts

Hallo,

Running SysStats 2.5.11 and ObjectDock 1.20.520u Plus, and having some trouble. I use the MAPI mail checked in my OD, and around a week ago it seems to have lost it's "shortcut" ability. The icon still works, still checks my mail, but clicking it doesn't launch anything.

I try configuing that docklet, and when I go to the Controllers tab, and choose Shortcut Class it's empty. Click Add, and OD crashes.

When I look at the mail_static.ini, the Control section reads

[control]
Controllers-Count=0

A prior version of my mail_static.ini has this:

[control]
Controllers-Count=1

[control-0]
Name=Shortcut
Type=Shortcut Class
MeterIndex=-1
MessageType=513
OverlayPath-Count=0
Key=0
PassThrough=0
Args=
StartIn=
selector=
Shortcut=C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOFFICE11OUTLOOK.EXE

Even copying that bit back in doesn't help, OD/SS keeps reseting the ini file. I'm stumped...not sure what changed in my system recently (been on XP-SP2 for a month or two now). Installed MSXML4 and WSH because that's been mentioned here before, with no success.

Any ideas?

I found my issue. Rebooting, alas, did not help...the shortcut class just didn't want to work.

As I had a working system, with identical setup (in fact, I literally copied OD & SysStats from that PC), I focused on comparing the two. Did a lot of registry digging, and after a bit noticed something on my broken system - SysStats wasn't the only thing using a "Shortcut Class".

On the newer PC I have "Crystal Enterprise 11" installed, which put it's own Shortcut Class info into the registry, and I think that was confusing SysStats. When I removed the Crystal entries, and relaunched OD, it's working fine now.

Is it sad that I've no problem hacking out reg keys for something like Crystal Reports?

Anyway, hope this helps someone else...beware other proggies using similar class names.
