Hi guys, I'm working on this second bar and I'm trying very hard to ge the exact effect. I'm nowhere near complete but here's a sneak peak at where I'm at so far. I'd like some feedback on this, any changes or additions people might like to see. I realize the menu words aren't very legible...I'm working on it

I like the bar, but I have two suggestions:
Make the text on the bar easier to read
Try to keep the menus from being overly pixelated

Yea, I think that's a pretty fair call, the drop down looks pixelated in the non selected portions...and maybe try the white in the drop down menu as well?

what about this...make the dropdown menus look like colored glass/plexi (the same color as the start button). Then make the unhighlighted text appear etched and the selected section appear etched but filled with white paint. I'm crap when it come to photoshop but maybe this will inspire heh.

Actually, since I posted this I have tried making the menu clear white aquaish and it seems to work pretty nicely, just need to match up the colours. I like your idea about the highlighted and unlighted text Zoggynog, I think it'll make it much more legible

Darius: That looks SO much better. I would love to see an entire theme based on this - its the first really, really original skin Ive seen in awhile (other than RPeterclarks Winamp3 skins) that just blows me away. Damn fine chrome!

Well now I'm all mixed up.

I like your change to the button, it doesn't look bad at all...but I just think your first setup is sleeker with the smaller button. (personal pref)
I am mixed on the bars new font...it's easier to read but the bevel thing you had going with your first try seemed more real...as if the metal is stamped with the letters and white paint is poured in the grooves. The way it is changed now feels too fake to me...like it doesn't bend with curve of the bar...the old one didn't have to bend because it felt stamped...
does that make any sense?
I would like to see a combo of your first bar idea with your second pull down personally. Maybe these could be options?
Anyways, PLEASE keep working on this, you have a realisim thing going with this that is really nice looking...almost terminator looking! :who's your daddy:

Ok, I think mixing aqua with chrome doesn't seem to work as well so I think I'm gonna save that aqua menu for an aqua bar that I'll do later. But I'd like to get the whole chrome/metal thing going. Here's a little update to where I am so far. Sometimes it may feel like I'm going back and forth Any suggestions would be appreciated. By the way, if you're viewing the bigger shot with IE, view it at full size because it looks jaggy when IE resizes it.

starting to look really refined! Great idea with the chrome border around the pull down menu...ties it all in well.
And keep that button like it is! (but make it light up different colors depending on version of the theme maybe? (blue, orange, green,etc) when you push it.

id say u went wrong direction, i think the 2nd one was the best, but i suggest a reg size button, not bulging and for the drop down menu, try and keep it simple, cool like u have it now, but dum it down a bit, it seems to be 2 complicated.. to me at least
what about applying the idea you have on the drop down to the main bar? The outline has a chromish look but the inside is a more dull silver?...might look a little more stylish and less busy?
